The Athelney Bulletin is published weekly sometime during the 24 hours between Friday and Saturday evenings. This is all a bit vague because the vicar presses “send” when he’s got it all sorted and that is rarely predictable.

The Bulletin is what some might call a “pew sheet” but since it appears in both paper and electronic formats, it seems best to refer to it in the more neutral manner of a bulletin.

It contains a short item revealing what is in the vicar’s head at the time (what some might call a homily but its far too small for that so let’s call it an homilette). There is also a weekly list of the scriptures for the Sunday services. Mostly these are taken from the Common Lectionary, but the vicar reserves the right to stray as and when the Holy Spirit directs him. Following that section is the “Prayers for those who are sick or in need”. This includes a “year’s mind” where the names of those who have died during the given month over the previous five years are remembered. If you would like to add someone to this list, please email the vicar. Finally there is a section of events and notices, includign the coming month’s worship times and locations. Again, to include something in this section… please email.

The vicar will often miss something out, change something unaccountably or simply fail to update the dates and times. Please feel free to point this out to him. He will resend with corrections if possible.
